Samboja Lestari is an area of restored tropical rainforest that provide natural, educational playgrounds for the orangutans in which to learn forest skills. Here the orangutans roam freely but under supervision and are returned to sleeping cages for the night. It’s also home to one of the world’s largest sun bear projects. You can help with the maintenance of the cages, observations on the behavior of newly formed groups, creation of behavioral enrichment, preparation and feeding out of food.
Upon arrival at the Balikpapan Airport, meet and great with your guide then transfer to Samboja Lestari. Upon arrival, check in Samboja Lodge and enjoy your lunch at the terrace restaurant. Here we can take a look a beautiful view of the park. A local guide will conduct a briefing on the up coming activities. Short rest and fresh up then depart for the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in time for the afternoon feeding session at 15:00. Then head to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre nearby. Afternoon visit Black River. Take a two-hour boat journey across the Black River and enjoy the scenes of local villages and lush mangrove forest to search for wildlife, most notably the proboscis monkeys which are native to Borneo. Other fauna likely to be spotted in the river includes monitor lizard and bird species.
Back to Samboja Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at Samboja Lodge, then guided walks along the nearby nature trail follows a forest path from the Samboja Lodge. Then visit The Fire Tower and Bosf Office Tower to see around the park from the height. Afterwards transfer to Balikpapan airport for your next destination.

You’ll stay in the middle of a 2000-hectare protected and unique rain forest area. Exotic birds will fly to visit the balcony and frog singing will accompany you at night. Unique design inspired from local architecture. All interior and exterior walls are made of recycled materials. This place is surrounded by plants and each room has a terrace or balcony in which to enjoy its own greeneries.
