Upon arrival at the Airport of Balikpapan or Samarinda, meet and great with your guide then immediately transfer by vehicle to Sangatta. A bumpy but fascinating road through a string of villages and forest. Stop somewhere for lunch and coffee. Upon arrival in Sangata check in hotel and dinner.

💧 Samarinda – Sangatta = 180 km (4 hrs by vehicle)
Breakfast at hotel, then short drive to Kabo pier. Hop on a motor canoe to get upstream Sangatta river towards the jungle of Kutai National Park. Upon arrival at the jungle camp, drop our stuff in the camp then start a jungle trek, in to the deep forest looking for wild life and Orangutans. Late afternoon return back to the Prefab station.
Night walk in the Park
The rain forest comes peaceful at night. Your guide and ranger, with the help of a torch will find tarantula as well as birds which are more easily found at night.
Dinner and overnight at Prefab Jungle Camp
After breakfast, take a motor canoe to the mangrove forest of the Sangatta river, to spot proboscis monkeys, macaques, birds even crocodiles and other wild life. Return to Sangata for lunch. Afterwards transfer to Samarinda for diner and overnight.

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport of Samarinda or Balikpapan for your next destination. Depending on your flight time. There may be time to stop at a local restaurant for lunch.

Kutai National Park has a simple jungle camp, namely Prefab Camp. It’s near the river side inside the forest. It is a simple wooden lodge with several small rooms, equipped two matrasses on the floor, kitchen facility, Indonesian styled bath room with cold water and toilet. Electricity is 220 volt and restricted to evening hours only ( 6pm-11pm ). In front of the rooms is a shared terrace for leisure to enjoy view and the sound of the forest.
